Overnight we had rain(in Phoenix!) and winds(38 mph) but the day was cool and clear. It was in the low 50’s at racetime but thankfully our seats were in the sun so we were warm enough. The race had a 10 minute red flag while they cleaned up a from a multicar accident but then ended with a Jeff Gordon victory. He broke his car during his victory celebration and had to be pushed to victory lane by a tow truck. How embarrassing! Talk about showmanship. The track is being rebuilt/resurfaced prior to the November race, so they brought out a really big backhoe and started tearing up the track while we were still in the stands. FYI, if you want, you can buy a piece of the old track.
