Now this is how they should always teach science

The Exploratorium. We were by far not the only grownups enjoying the hand-on displays. There were hundreds of great interactive demonstrations of mechanics, sound, light, electricity, biology, particle science. My favorite was an exhibit where you plugged your ears and bit down on a steel rod (with a newly unwrapped drinking straw as the sanitary slipcover) and when I bit down, I heard rap music transmitted through my jawbone. Yeah, I guess I already know that but it was really cool to experience it. The one that had me touch a copper coil and feel the pain of being burned that was cool too. You see, it wasn’t really hot, just alternating warm and cold coils and that is enough to confuse the brain and signal, “hot-let go”. Pretty amazing. Lots more fun stuff too.
