Northernmost extent of our travels:

N 69 Degrees 49 minutes or 225 miles north of the Arctic Circle, Milepost 384 on the Dalton Hwy, 468 miles north of Fairbanks

Above the Arctic Circle, this time of year, we enjoy the “midnight sun”.  Ever wonder how the “midnight sun” really works?   If you look closely at this latitude you see daytime sun movement you expect east to west, the real fun starts in the evening.  The westward recession halts before sunset and slowly the sun appears to head northward crossing over the north to “rise” in the morning in the east.  What we really see, Europe’s daytime sun as Alaska’s midnight sun.  Pretty cool.

  1. Wow, you sure are a long way from Aransas… Looks like you’ve got your hands full taming the mud, looks great though, just a little jealous, would love to be up there. Stay safe on the highway and watch out for the moose. We had a breakdown in El Paso, engine went bad, stuck there for one month… “Hell Paso” for a month while the dealer stalled around getting it fixed (new engine), thankfully the extended warranty covered it ($15,000), this happened seven days before it expired. We made to Cottage Grove, Oregon at the Dorena Lake, Schwarz campground, it’s really nice here and the work isn’t hard at all and we have great camp sites and CELL SERVICE TOO. We’ll try to keep up with you on your website. As they say, keep the shinny side up, but from the looks of things it might be a little hard to find.
