The Curecanti Creek trail drops to the Gunnison River just as the Blue Creek joins it. Together, these flows have created the Curecanti Needle, a cool huge rock outcropping cut by these intersecting streams. We were accompanied by the babble of the creek for much of the walk and had the opportunity to watch American Dippers catch their lunch. We spotted what must be a Dipper nest carefully packed into a rock ledge above the stream. The return trip is a bit of an effort but well worth it.
